Minister Mehmet Şimşek assessed the Turkish economy with global investors.
Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) President Fatih Karahan held a teleconference with international investors, hosted by Citigroup and Deutsche Bank. The meeting saw participation from numerous portfolio managers and foreign investors from North America, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
During the teleconference, recent developments in the Turkish economy, macroeconomic balances, and fluctuations in financial markets were discussed. Minister Şimşek emphasized the steps taken to ensure healthy market functioning and enhance efficiency. He highlighted the introduction of Turkish lira forward foreign exchange transactions aimed at reducing market volatility and increasing predictability. Furthermore, he reaffirmed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's full support for the economic program and stated that the government stands firmly behind its current economic policies, which are beginning to yield positive results in the markets.
