U.S. LNG exports increased by 4.7% year-on-year in January, with Turkey emerging as the largest buyer.
According to the monthly report from the U.S. Department of Energy, the United States exported approximately 11.74 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in January, marking a 4.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024 and reaching the highest level since December 2023. Notably, 86% of American LNG was directed to Europe, with Turkey emerging as the largest recipient.
LNG exports in January saw a 1% rise compared to December 2024, with a total of 131 tankers delivering LNG. Key supply points included Turkey with 2 billion cubic meters, the UK with 1.77 billion cubic meters, France with 1.4 billion cubic meters, the Netherlands with 1 billion cubic meters, and Spain with 0.86 billion cubic meters, collectively accounting for 60% of all deliveries from the U.S. The share of LNG supplies to Asia fell from 17.6% in December 2024 to 8.4% in January, while deliveries to Europe reached a record high of 85.5%.
