India's sugar production forecast has dropped to 26.4 million metric tons.
The Indian Sugar Mills Association, representing producers, has revised its sugar production forecast for the current season ending in September. The new forecast is set at 26.4 million metric tons, indicating a decrease of 2.94% from the previous estimate of 27.2 million tons.
This downward revision is attributed to a decline in sugarcane yields and early closures of mills, which have negatively impacted this year's production. As a significant player in the global market, the Indian sugar industry faces challenges in meeting its production targets due to these factors. The revised forecast was announced by the Indian Sugar Mills Association on Thursday, providing an updated outlook for the country's sugar production this season.
