Turk Telekom and Petrol Ofisi Group Sign a Milestone in SD-WAN Technology Utilization
Foreks - A new phase has begun in the four-year strategic collaboration between Petrol Ofisi, Turkey's energy infrastructure group, and Türk Telekom, the leader in Turkey's digital transformation, in the field of "Software-Defined Wide Area Network" (SD-WAN).
The project, which encompasses Petrol Ofisi Group's fuel stations numbering up to 2,700 across 81 provinces, represents one of the most widespread uses of SD-WAN technology in the world and is also a first in the sector.
Petrol Ofisi Group, the traditional leader in Turkey's fuel and total chemical markets, has achieved a milestone in its sector through its collaboration with Türk Telekom, the leader in digital transformation. The company is expanding its extensive cooperation with Türk Telekom aimed at managing sales, inventory, and refueling data in fuel stations across Turkey and rural pumps throughout the country more securely and without interruptions. Through this partnership, Türk Telekom will implement SD-WAN and Local Network Infrastructure, serving as a reference in the digital transformation of Petrol Ofisi's fuel automation systems, and will manage the infrastructure for an additional five years. With the new agreement, the SD-WAN technology, which Petrol Ofisi Group began using in collaboration with Türk Telekom as a first in the sector four years ago, will also be utilized at bp stations and service points, where the transition process has recently been completed.
Commenting on the agreement, Mehmet Abbasoğlu, CEO of Petrol Ofisi Group, stated, “We are pleased to realize this important project, which is a significant milestone in achieving our group's digital transformation goals, and which contributes to strengthening the communication automation infrastructure in the energy sector across Turkey with innovative solutions, including UTTS, alongside Türk Telekom, which sees digitalization as a culture and plays a vital role in our country's digital transformation. With the bp acquisition, we have reached a nationwide network of 2,700 stations, further solidifying our role in the security and accessibility of the country's energy supply. We take pride in leading a standard that will become the norm in the industry by supporting this extensive network with a communication infrastructure that provides secure, uninterrupted, and highly accessible service throughout Turkey.”
Ümit Önal, CEO of Türk Telekom, also commented: “As Türk Telekom, we take pride in standing beside businesses and institutions on their digital transformation journeys. With our vision of digitalization that permeates every aspect of life, we continue to create milestones that support digitalization across many sectors from defense to industry, finance to energy, transportation to agriculture, and from art to sports. This collaboration with Petrol Ofisi enables them to make their network management more flexible, reliable, and centralized with our SD-WAN technology, allowing them to maximize their operational efficiency. By bringing future technologies to life today, we will continue to support the digital transformation processes of businesses and provide end-to-end solutions with the latest technologies.”
SD-WAN technology, which provides a centralized network architecture that allows management of station and terminal infrastructure from a single center while offering flexibility, scalability, and high visibility, will become available at Petrol Ofisi Group's fuel stations, which number 2,700 with the inclusion of bp across Turkey's 81 provinces. This will ensure that data obtained from automation systems in the stations is instantly transmitted to Petrol Ofisi's data center and the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) via the satellite, GSM, and landlines provided by Türk Telekom. This innovative SD-WAN technology offers Petrol Ofisi Group the opportunity to manage wide area networks in a centralized way, providing nearly 100% accessibility, flexibility, and scalability.
