Istanbul Stock Exchange Opens Lower: Which Stocks Took the Lead?

The BIST 100 index, which is traded on Borsa Istanbul, started the day with a decrease of 0.65% at 9,851.29 points. The BIST 100 concluded yesterday's trading session down 0.95% at 9,915.76 points. During the day, the index saw a low of 9,912.58 and a high of 10,052.85 points, while it fell to the 283 dollar range in dollar terms.

In the stock market, 7 sectoral and national indices finished the day with gains, while 58 closed with losses. Among the 100 stocks included in the BIST 100 index, 25 rose, while 74 lost value. The total trading volume of the stocks within the index was 80.7 billion TL, accounting for 70.78% of the total market trading volume.

Borsa Istanbul continued to show a downward trend in the initial trades, with the construction and factoring sectors starting the day with the most significant drops. The sectors that stayed positive in the first hour included sports, insurance, and SMEs. Banks and holding companies started the day with a half-point decline, parallel to the index.

Across Borsa Istanbul, CGCAM, RTALB, and AVTUR were the top gainers at the opening, while BRKO, YYAPI, and PEHOL saw the most declines in the initial trades. SMRVA, which started trading at the ceiling price yesterday, continues to rise by about 3% today.

In the domestic currency market, the dollar/TL continues to rise moderately by 0.1% at 35.07, while the Euro/TL increased by half a point to 36.46, and gram gold is at 2,956 TL, down 0.8%.

In international markets, sharp declines were observed in U.S. indices following hawkish statements from the Fed. Asian indices were generally moving negatively in the morning hours. European futures indices remained somewhat positive before the market opening, except for the FTSE 100, while some rebound buying was seen in U.S. futures indices.
