Rail Traffic Volume in the U.S. Rises by 4.8%

Foreks - The total volume of rail transport in the United States increased by 4.8% for the week ending December 14 compared to the same week last year. According to data released by the Association of American Railroads (AAR), total rail freight transportation amounted to 526,166 carloads. Carload freight decreased by 2.4% to 228,400 carloads, while intermodal freight transportation rose by 11.1% to 297,766 carloads. During the same week, the amount of coal transported by rail in the U.S. decreased by 6.0% to 61,291 carloads.
