Corendon Airlines, a leader in innovations and "firsts" in the aviation sector, met with members of the Istanbul Airports Correspondents Association on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, for a discussion meeting. The meeting, attended by Atılay Batu, the Deputy General Manager responsible for Operations at Corendon Airlines, included an evaluation of 2024 along with the sharing of various highlights from the year.

With 20 years of experience in the industry, Corendon Airlines has become an international airline company that carries an average of 6 million passengers annually to 165 destinations in 65 countries with a fleet of 32 aircraft as of 2024.

During the meeting, Atılay Batu shared insights about the airline's activities in 2024, stating, "We carry 6 million passengers to tourist and ethnic destinations primarily in Turkey, Spain, Greece, Morocco, and Egypt from many countries in Europe. We are sustainably growing by prioritizing the development of our flight points and schedules every year. In 2024, we managed to increase our occupancy rate to 86.20%, compared to last year."

Antalya emerged as the most popular destination. In his speech, Atılay Batu presented an analysis of the preferences and habits of Corendon Airlines’ guests, expressing pride in Antalya ranking as the top destination for the airline, followed by Heraklion, Crete, in second place and Hurghada, Egypt, in third. He noted that the most flown route was between Düsseldorf and Antalya, followed by the routes from Cologne to Antalya and Hanover to Antalya. The top three departure cities were Düsseldorf, Cologne, and Hanover, with the five routes boasting the highest occupancy for Corendon Airlines being Düsseldorf-Rhodes, Stuttgart-Gazipaşa, Cologne-Dalaman, Cologne-Gazipaşa, and Hanover-Rhodes.

Batu highlighted the company's commitment to environmentally friendly travel, underscoring a partnership with the cOmmited.app platform, which aids in carbon emission reduction. He stated, "In cooperation with Fibabanka's subsidiary, the carbon footprint reduction platform cOmmited.app, we launched a climate program for a carbon-neutral future. This allows us to offset carbon emissions resulting from our passengers' travels. In 2024, we saw a reduction in carbon emissions per passenger."

Atılay Batu also mentioned other sustainability efforts: "In March 2024, we launched the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) application, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%. In the 'World's Cleanest Airlines' study conducted by the German NGO Atmosfair, we ranked 4th globally based on carbon emissions per passenger and 1st in Turkey. In 2018, we became the first airline in Turkey to utilize Boeing's MAX 8 model, noted for its low fuel consumption and low carbon emissions."

Atılay Batu expressed that 2024 unfolded in alignment with the expectations of the tourism sector, adding that Corendon Airlines would continue to implement impactful projects to increase occupancy rates, the number of seats, and flight destinations while providing the best services in 2025.
