Aksa Akrilik, Akkim, and DowAksa Join Forces Under the 'Chemistry of Equality' Project
Foreks - Three major chemical companies opening up to the world from Yalova, Aksa Akrilik (IS:AKSA), Akkim, and DowAksa have joined forces under the 'Chemistry of Equality' project, taking an important step towards gender equality. The first phase of the project, in collaboration with AÇEV, started in Yalova with the 'Vibrant Meetings' program, aiming to empower women and increase access to education for girls.
Operating in the chemical sector, Aksa Akrilik and Akkim Kimya from Akkök Holding, along with Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW), and the 50/50 joint venture DowAksa have added a new women's support program to their sustainability projects. By launching the 'Chemistry of Equality' project, the companies are making a strong move towards gender equality in society. With a focus on empowering women and increasing educational access for girls, Akkim, Aksa, and DowAksa initiated the first phase of the project through the 'Vibrant Meetings' program in collaboration with the Mother Child Education Foundation (AÇEV).
The program offers training on advanced literacy, mathematics, and life skills to women over the age of 18. The 'Young Vibrant Meetings' program, designed for girls aged 14-18, supports the continuation of their education and the development of their life skills. Implemented face-to-face in an active, participatory, and sharing-based environment with an egalitarian approach, the program lasts for 8 weeks.
"We aim to create a wide impact across Turkey" In remarks made during the project's launch, Cengiz Taş, General Manager of Aksa Akrilik, Onur Kipri, General Manager of Akkim Kimya, and Massimo Rebolini, Executive Board Chairman of DowAksa, along with AÇEV General Manager Senem Başyurt emphasized the importance of empowering women and girls who are neither in work nor in school for society.
Cengiz Taş highlighted, "With the 'Vibrant Meetings' program that we initiated under the 'Chemistry of Equality' project, we aim to contribute to the lives of women and girls, offering them a better future. Our main goal is to ensure equal access to opportunities for individuals from all walks of life, initially in Yalova, and subsequently throughout Turkey, thus creating a broad impact."
Onur Kipri stated that Akkim has been working for years under the Akkim Gender Equality program to empower women in the business world and society, noting, "It is invaluable for the group chemical companies to unite their strengths for this purpose. We hope this significant power collaboration will set an example not only in our region but across all of Turkey. We will continue to support the empowerment of girls and women for a more equitable society and future."
Massimo Rebolini remarked, "As DowAksa, we continue to play an active role in empowering women and promoting equality in the workplace. We place great importance on extending this approach beyond company boundaries to share it with all our stakeholders. The 'Chemistry of Equality' project is not just a social responsibility initiative for us; it is also a valuable investment in the future. Empowering women and girls is an indispensable foundation for the advancement of societies."
Senem Başyurt from AÇEV expressed, "Focusing on women's empowerment for an equal society, we have been bringing women who are neither in work nor in school together through our Vibrant Meetings program since 2016. It is gratifying for us to collaborate with Akkök Holding's subsidiaries, Akkim Kimya, Aksa Akrilik, and DowAksa, as the first partner of the 'Chemistry of Equality' project to bring our Vibrant Meetings program to the women of Yalova. We believe that every woman empowered through education takes a step towards a brighter future in building an equitable society."
Adding value to the region Akkim Kimya, Aksa Akrilik, and DowAksa have been producing social responsibility projects particularly for the youth and women in the region alongside the 'Chemistry of Equality' projects in Yalova for years.
The three companies implement projects like educational support programs, environmental assistance, and public training for youth and families, in addition to permanent service infrastructures donated for the benefit of the region, such as the Raif Dinçkök Cultural Center, Yalova University Rectorate Building, and Aksa Vocational High School.
