Italy Ready to Collaborate with Stellantis if Jobs and Facilities are Preserved
Forex - Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that the Italian government is willing to work with Stellantis NV on the automaker's future strategy, provided that it retains employment and factories in the country. Meloni made this remark during an event for her Brothers of Italy party in Rome, ahead of the Italian automotive industry meeting on December 17, which will include Industry Minister Adolfo Urso, representatives of the automaker, and local unions. She said, “We assess economic cases according to their values. This applies to Stellantis as much as it does to other companies operating in Italy. If the approach is constructive and there is a desire to protect factories and employment, we are ready to do our part.” Following Carlos Tavares' sudden resignation as CEO this month, the Italian government hopes to mend its strained relations with the automaker, which has 14 brands including Jeep, Ram, Fiat, and Peugeot.
