Aksa Energy Launches Talimerjan Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant

Forex - Aksa Energy's Talimercan Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant, with an installed capacity of 430 MW, was inaugurated in a grand ceremony attended by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Turkish Republic's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar via online connection. The event was also graced by Berat Çonkar, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey.

As the largest Turkish investment company in Uzbekistan, Aksa Energy (IS:AKSEN) has taken another significant step to enhance Uzbekistan's energy supply security with the Talimercan Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant. Having already established and operated three power plants with a total installed capacity of 790 MW in Tashkent and Bukhara, Aksa Energy will increase its installed capacity in Uzbekistan to 1,220 MW with the completion of the Talimercan plant. The first units of the plant have been commissioned in a record time of just 7 months, reaching a capacity of 352 MW as of today. Efforts to bring all units of the plant online are expected to be completed by the beginning of 2025.

Commenting on the record timeframe for the commissioning of the plant, Aksa Energy's Chairman and CEO Cemil Kazancı stated, "Today, we celebrated the inauguration of our Talimercan plant, one of the most concrete examples of the strong political and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey. This project, which we brought online in a record timeframe of 7 months, contributes to Uzbekistan's energy supply security while also being an essential part of Aksa Energy’s growth ambitions on the international stage. Once we reach full capacity, we will solidify our position as the largest Turkish investor in the region with a total of 4 plants and an installed capacity of 1,220 MW."

The Talimercan Power Plant was constructed in collaboration with NEGU (National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan), which is affiliated with the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan. The natural gas required for electricity production is provided by the Uzbek Government, and the generated electricity will be priced under a 25-year US Dollar-based guaranteed capacity agreement. This model highlights the sustainability of the project and the solid foundations on which the economic cooperation between the two countries progresses.

The machinery and equipment for the Talimercan Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant were transported to Talimercan, Uzbekistan, through a major logistics operation conducted from five different locations in Turkey in just 6 months. The construction of the plant was completed rapidly with a significant collective effort.

This project further proves Aksa Energy's success in international energy investments while playing a crucial role in ensuring Uzbekistan's energy supply security and enhancing the strategic cooperation between the two countries.
