Apple Set to Unveil Its Own Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Chips

Apple Inc. is making progress in its strategy to develop its own components, planning to introduce its proprietary Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip, known as Proxima, by 2025. This development aims to gradually eliminate the need for similar components currently provided by Broadcom Inc. The Proxima chip has been in development for several years and is expected to be integrated into products starting in 2025. Its production will be handled by Apple's manufacturing partner, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.

This move is part of Apple’s broader effort to gain more control over the hardware that goes into its devices. The company aims to create a fully integrated wireless technology system that works seamlessly with its devices while enhancing energy efficiency. While the transition to using the Proxima chip is different from Apple’s plans to replace Qualcomm Inc.'s cellular modems with its own design, the two components are expected to work together in the end.

The individuals providing this information spoke on the condition of anonymity as the plans have not been made public. When asked for comments, representatives from Apple, based in Cupertino, California, and Broadcom, based in Palo Alto, California, declined to respond.
