Areda Survey: Minimum Wage Should Be Increased by 75%
According to a survey conducted by Areda Survey with 4,539 participants across Turkey, 40% of citizens expect the minimum wage increase to be between 25% and 50%. The percentage of those who believe the increase should be 75% or more constitutes 35.6% of the population.
Those who assert that "the minimum wage should be 75% or more" are predominantly from the 55 years and older age group, accounting for 43.8%. According to the same survey, 40% of citizens expect the minimum wage increase to be between 25% and 50%. Meanwhile, 35.6% of participants believe that at least a 75% increase is required. Those who consider that the minimum wage should be increased by 51% to 74% comprise 17.8% of the population, while 6.6% believe that a raise of less than 25% would be sufficient.
Which age group has the highest salary increase expectation? The survey indicates differing expectations for the 2025 minimum wage increase between women and men. While 47% of women believe there should be an increase of 75% or more, 43.6% of men think the increase should be between 25% and 50%.
Among those who think the upcoming increase should be 75% or more, participants aged 55 and older have the highest representation (43.8%). They are followed by participants in the 35-54 age range (42.2%), while the majority of younger individuals aged 18-34 (38.9%) expect an increase of 25% to 50%.
Methodology of the Research The survey, which included 4,539 participants across Turkey, was conducted between November 29 and December 2, 2024, using CAWI techniques from quantitative research methods with "Areda Survey’s Profile-Based Digital Panel."
