Russia's Attack Causes Severe Damage to Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure at Thermal Power Plant
DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, reported that Russian forces caused "significant damage" to equipment at a thermal power plant during an attack on energy infrastructure in the morning hours.
According to a statement from DTEK, "Initial reports indicate there were no casualties. The major attack caused severe damage to the thermal power plant's equipment."
Energy Minister German Galushchenko stated via the ministry's Telegram channel that significant missile strikes were carried out on Ukraine's energy system facilities. "Once again, energy across Ukraine is under a large-scale attack. Damage will be clarified as soon as the security situation permits," he said.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia launched 93 missiles and approximately 200 drones in one of the largest wartime assaults on Ukraine's energy system. Zelensky noted that Ukrainian air defense systems managed to intercept 81 Russian missiles, including 11 missiles shot down by F-16 fighter jets.
