The Amount of Checks with Non-Cash Transactions Increased from January to November

Forex - The amount of checks presented to banks has increased.
In the January-November period of 2024, the total amount of 15.3 million checks issued by 56,500 issuers presented to banks reached 6.884 billion TL.
Checks Presented vs. Bounced Checks
Compared to the previous year, the number of issuers (unique) increased by 3%. While the number of checks presented decreased by 5%, the amount of checks increased by 65%.
The amount of bounced checks has increased.
In the January-November period of 2024, the total amount of 240,000 checks presented to banks which bounced at the time of presentation, belonging to 25,000 issuers, was 154 billion TL. Furthermore, 45,000 checks amounting to a total of 26.3 billion TL belonging to 16,000 issuers were subsequently paid.
The ratio of the amount of bounced checks to the checks presented has increased compared to the previous year.
In November, the ratio of bounced checks to the checks presented to banks was 2.2% in amount and 1.6% in number.
In the January-November 2024 period, the top five provinces with the highest amount of bounced checks were Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, and Bursa.
