U.S. Producer Prices Surpass Expectations
Forex - In the U.S., producer prices in November came in above expectations.
The U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the Producer Price Index for final demand rose by 0.4% last month. Economists had predicted a 0.2% increase in PPI.
Producer prices in November increased by 3.0% compared to the same period last year. The annual increase in October was 2.4%.
Excluding food and energy, producer prices rose by 0.2% in November, aligning with expectations. The annual increase was 3.4%.
Producer prices, excluding food, energy, and trade, rose by 0.1% month-over-month and 3.5% year-over-year.
