Istanbul Airport Tops Europe with 1,339 Daily Flights
According to the air traffic data for November 2024 from the European Air Navigation Safety Organization (EUROCONTROL), Istanbul Airport has become the busiest airport in Europe, surpassing London with an average of 1,339 flights per day. The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) published EUROCONTROL's November 2024 air traffic data on its official website. Statistics from the Air Traffic Operations Report for November 2024, released by EUROCONTROL on December 11, 2024, indicate that Ankara ranked as the fourth busiest airspace control center (ACC) in Europe, with an average of 3,830 flights per day. During the same period, Turkish Airlines (IS:THYAO) held the second position in Europe, operating an average of 1,347 flights per day, while Pegasus Airlines (IS:PGSUS) ranked 11th with an average of 503 flights.
In the ranking of the busiest airports in Europe for November 2024, Istanbul Airport led with an average of 1,339 flights per day, surpassing London Heathrow and Amsterdam Schiphol Airports. Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport also made it to the list, ranking 10th with an average of 651 flights per day.
