US Increases Tariffs on Solar Panels, Polysilicon, and Tungsten Products Imported from China
The Biden administration plans to increase tariffs on solar wafers, polysilicon, and certain tungsten products imported from China to protect U.S. clean energy businesses.
According to a statement from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, tariffs on Chinese-made solar wafers and polysilicon will rise to 50%, and tariffs on certain tungsten products will increase to 25%, effective January 1.
U.S. Trade Representative Katharine Tai stated, "The tariff increases announced today will further curb the harmful policies and practices of the People's Republic of China. These actions will complement domestic investments made under the Biden-Harris Administration to promote a clean energy economy while enhancing the resilience of critical supply chains."
