Google Unveils Gemini 2: The Next Generation of Its Flagship AI Model

Forex - Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) announced yesterday the launch of Gemini 2, a new version of its flagship AI model trained to schedule and execute tasks on users' computers and the web, capable of conversing like a human and interpreting the physical world like a virtual assistant.

Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, hinted at the idea of AI that could eventually perform every task a human brain can do, stating in an interview with WIRED prior to today's announcement, "I have long dreamed of a universal digital assistant as a stepping stone on the path to artificial general intelligence."

Gemini 2 represents another step in measuring AI intelligence through benchmarks used to gauge such capabilities. The model also possesses advanced "multimodal" abilities, making it more adept at video and audio parsing and speech.

Google's CEO Sundar Pichai stated in an announcement today, "We have invested in developing more agent models over the past year." Pichai added that these models "understand more about the world around you, can think several steps ahead, and can act on your behalf under your oversight."
