Robert Bosch's Works Council Warns of Potential Job Cuts of Up to 10,000

Foreks - Robert Bosch's works council warned of potential layoffs of up to 10,000 as challenges in the automotive sector increase. Frank Sell, the chairman of the general works council, stated at a press conference that personnel reductions within the company could affect between 8,000 to 10,000 jobs in Germany.

The industrial union IG Metall and the works council have called on management to develop joint solutions in light of the complex market situation, considering possible strikes if negotiations fail. Sell mentioned that Bosch has already reduced the working hours of about 2,500 employees, which could be expanded to 10,000 personnel. Bosch employs over 120,000 people in Germany.

In a separate press briefing, Bosch stated that it cannot rule out the possibility of further layoffs in the future. In November, the company announced plans to cut an additional 5,500 positions across its operations in the coming years, making it the latest automotive parts supplier to reduce its workforce during a challenging period for the industry.
