Bayraktar: Daily Production at Gabar Hits 61,000 Barrels
Foreks - The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that daily oil production in Şırnak Gabar has increased to 61,000 barrels. Stating that they set a record in November with a total crude oil production of 3 million 425 thousand barrels across Turkey, Minister Bayraktar said, “In November, we met half of our total production in Turkey from Gabar.”
TPAO Celebrates 70 Years Minister Bayraktar attended the National Technologies in the Oil Industry Conference (PEMTEK) held in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Turkish Petroleum. Speaking there, Minister Bayraktar mentioned that Turkish Petroleum operates in more than 130 production sites across five regions with its 3,692 personnel, stating that the institution produces 80% of the oil and natural gas extracted in Turkey.
Paradigm Shift Emphasizing that they have undergone a paradigm shift in oil and natural gas exploration with the National Energy and Mining Policy, Bayraktar explained that they have built a fleet with deep-sea drilling vessels and seismic research vessels through this new strategy.
7 Million Cubic Meters Bayraktar noted that they achieved Turkey's largest natural gas discovery in the Black Sea in 2020, stating, “Currently, our production in the Sakarya Gas Field has approached 7 million cubic meters per day. Together with our production from other fields, we are currently meeting the needs of 3.5 million households with our own natural gas.”
Increased Activity Ahead Recalling that TPAO is operating in countries like Somalia, Bayraktar said, “In the coming period, we aim to have a TPAO that is much more active and stronger internationally. We aim to increase our oil and natural gas production through international partnerships in Iraq, Libya, Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and South America.”
Half from Gabar Bayraktar pointed out that the discovery in Şırnak in 2021 was the largest discovery in land areas in the history of the republic, stating, “As of today, our daily production in Gabar has reached 61,000 barrels. We set a record with a total crude oil production of 3 million 425 thousand barrels across Turkey in November. Thus, we met half of our total production in Turkey from Gabar in November.”
A Large Ecosystem Bayraktar emphasized that an important aspect of the National Energy and Mining Policy is the localization initiative, stating, “We have created a large ecosystem by enabling the sprouting of National Technologies in the Oil Industry within our country. At the point we have reached today, we are able to produce many software and equipment in this field, which we see as strategic, with our own means as much as ensuring supply security.”
Continuing Without Slowing Down Giving examples of localized equipment, Bayraktar stated, “The supply of domestic goods and services by Turkish Petroleum is increasing every year. Our national company sourced 53% of its goods and 99% of its services domestically in 2023. Our localization program on the road to complete independence in energy will continue without slowing down.”
National Champion Minister Bayraktar concluded his remarks by saying: “The work and efforts of my colleagues, in line with the vision of the Turkey Century put forth by our esteemed President, are of great importance for the bright future of our country. In the new period, we will restructure TPAO as our national champion with significantly improved working conditions and personal rights, possessing fast decision-making, flexible, and modern governance.”
Booth Visit After his speech, Minister Bayraktar visited the booths established within the scope of PEMTEK to gather information about the localized products.
