China's Coal Imports Soar 26% in November, Setting an Annual Record
Forex - China's coal imports in November increased by 26% year-on-year, reaching a record level for the year due to imported coal being cheaper than domestic coal. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, coal imports, which were 46.25 million tons in October, reached 54.98 million tons last month. November's imports were the highest recorded month. From January to November, imports increased by 14.8%, reaching 490.03 million tons. This figure has already surpassed the total imports for 2023, setting a new annual record. China imported 474.42 million tons of coal in 2023. Analysts from the China Coal Transport and Distribution Association stated in a seminar held last month that imports in 2025 should be at approximately the same level as this year.
