İŞKUR Reveals November Data: Unemployment Figures Decline
The Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) has released significant data in its November 2024 Bulletin. The number of registered unemployed decreased by 5.80% in November compared to the same month last year, reaching a total of 2,242,805 people. Of the registered unemployed, 48.7% are male, 51.3% are female, and 23.3% fall within the 15-24 age group.
In November, it was reported that a total of 101,771 people were placed in jobs through İŞKUR. Among these individuals, 61% are male and 39% are female. The agency stated that during the period from January to November 2024, it facilitated the placement of 1,302,700 people into jobs.
Sectoral Distribution of Job Placements During the January-November 2024 period, the "Manufacturing" sector in the industrial category provided the most job placements. In terms of occupational groups, the most placements occurred in the following professions: "Unarmed Security Guard," "Tourism and Hospitality Staff," and "Shelf Attendant."
During the same period, İŞKUR assisted in placing 498,469 women, 475,865 youth, 38,472 disabled individuals, and 246,402 higher education graduates into jobs. These figures indicate that a wide range of opportunities have been created in the labor market.
Open Jobs and Individual Consultations In November, the total number of open job positions reported by employers was recorded at 169,528, while this number reached 2,406,496 during the January-November 2024 period. About 99.1% of the reported open jobs came from the private sector. By sector, the highest number of open positions, 948,265, was found in the manufacturing industry. In terms of professions, the most sought-after positions were "Unarmed Security Guard," "Tourism and Hospitality Staff," and "Service Staff (Waiter)."
In November, İŞKUR conducted 236,966 individual consultations under its job and career counseling services. In total, 2,852,458 individual consultations were held throughout 2024. The agency also reported that during the same period, there were 7,716 school visits under student counseling and 738,028 workplace visits under employer counseling.
Active Labor Market Programs and Vocational Training In November, a total of 4,436 people benefited from active labor market programs. From January to November 2024, 13,581 programs were organized, benefiting a total of 62,657 individuals. The number of people benefiting from active labor market programs saw an increase of 29.7% compared to the same period last year.
In 2024, 60,165 individuals participated in 13,517 On-the-Job Training Programs, while 2,492 individuals attended 64 Vocational Training Courses. The courses with the highest number of participants were "Fabric and Garment Machine Operator," "Train Operator (Railway)," and "Ceramic Manufacturing Worker." These data reflect the demand for vocational training and the diversity of industry needs.
