Uraloğlu Announces Simultaneous Takeoffs and Landings on Three Runways at Istanbul Airport Starting April 17th
Forex - The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that on April 17, they will initiate simultaneous landings and takeoffs on three runways at Istanbul Airport. Emphasizing that the new application will ensure effective and dynamic capacity management at Istanbul Airport, Minister Uraloğlu stated, “This system we will implement in our country will be the first of its kind in Europe.”
Minister Uraloğlu made statements regarding the Simultaneous Independent Triple Runway Operations to be implemented at Istanbul Airport. He mentioned that Istanbul Airport is a turning point in aviation and hosts many new technology systems, noting that they are working on increasing passenger capacity. He said, “On April 17, we will start simultaneous landings and takeoffs on three runways at Istanbul Airport. This system we will implement in our country will be the first of its kind in Europe.”
Operationally Related Delays Will Be Minimized
Stating that the works are being carried out within the State Airports Authority (DHMİ), Minister Uraloğlu indicated that with the new application, simultaneous landings and takeoffs from the three runways will be possible, providing effective and dynamic capacity management at Istanbul Airport. Uraloğlu expressed, “This will also minimize operationally related delays. In addition, we will maximize fuel savings and flight efficiency. The works will also include the new runways, which are still under construction. With the commissioning of the new runways, the efficiency of air traffic operations will improve in many areas, especially taxi times.”
