Turk Telekom Joins GSMA Climate Action Task Force
Turk Telekom (IS:TTKOM) has joined the GSMA's Climate Action Task Force, one of the most prestigious initiatives in the global mobile communications sector. By solidifying its commitment to combating climate change on an international platform, Turk Telekom will feature in the GSMA Mobile Net Zero 2025 Report, which will be published worldwide and will showcase mobile operators' progress towards climate-related targets.
Kaan Aktan, Deputy General Manager of Turk Telekom Finance, stated, "As Turk Telekom, we are carrying out pioneering sustainability-focused initiatives that aim to minimize our environmental impacts with our understanding of technology that improves the future. By taking our leadership role in sustainability a step further, we are reinforcing it with global collaborations. In this direction, we have taken our sustainability efforts to the international arena by joining the GSMA Climate Action Task Force. In this way, we are making a significant step towards achieving our sustainability goals, particularly in reducing our carbon footprint, while supporting GSMA’s valuable initiative as Turkey's leading integrated telecommunications company. We are committed to developing projects that are sensitive to society and the environment, leaving a greener and more digital world for Turkey's future. Our goal is to reduce our Scope 1-2 carbon emissions by 45% by the year 2030, based on the year 2020, and to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. In this context, we will continue to harness the power of digitalization to create innovative solutions in the fight against climate change."
Leading Turkey's digital transformation, Turk Telekom aims to create value in environmental, social, and governance areas with its sustainability-focused approach and leave a more livable world for the future. Turk Telekom, which has signed important initiatives in the fight against climate change and energy efficiency, has joined the GSMA’s Climate Action Task Force, comprising 75 members representing over 80% of global mobile connections. Under this membership, Turk Telekom will appear in the GSMA Mobile Net Zero 2025 Report that will be published globally, showcasing the progress of mobile operators toward climate-related goals.
