Çelebi Aviation Becomes the Leading Company in 'Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification'

Foreks - Çelebi Aviation has earned the "Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification" awarded by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) by further strengthening safety in aircraft operations. Çelebi Aviation sets a new standard in the industry by implementing collision avoidance systems at the largest number of stations worldwide.

With over 65 years of experience operating in 6 countries across 3 continents and 70 stations, Çelebi Aviation continues to invest in innovative technologies with the aim of maximizing operational safety. In 2019, IATA recommended that all new equipment used near aircraft be equipped with collision avoidance systems. Çelebi Aviation took this standard a step further and began integrating collision avoidance systems into all of its existing equipment from that year onward. The company continues to work on equipping its entire fleet with this safety technology through regular modifications every year.

Çelebi Aviation maintains the highest safety standards across its entire fleet. Under the "Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification Program" launched by IATA in 2024, companies qualify for certification if they equip their station's equipment with collision avoidance systems and reduce the risk of aircraft damage by at least 20%.

So far, Çelebi Aviation has successfully obtained this certification at 17 of its stations and aims to expand this achievement across all operations by rapidly completing equipment modifications. The collision avoidance system automatically reduces equipment speed as it approaches the aircraft, enhancing operational safety to the highest level with a stopping function when a critical distance is reached.

Dave Dorner, CEO of Çelebi Aviation Group, stated, "Safety has always been our top priority at Çelebi Aviation. Ground handling equipment plays a critical role in preventing accidents in operational areas, providing a safer environment for both employees and aircraft. We are proud to demonstrate our commitment to safety once again with the implementation of IATA’s Enhanced Ground Support Equipment Certification Program, thanks to our investments and the efforts of our expert technical team. This step will also contribute to the elevation of global safety standards."

Nick Careen, Senior Vice President of IATA Operations, Safety and Security, also expressed, "We congratulate Çelebi Aviation for obtaining IATA’s Enhanced Ground Support Equipment certification at 17 stations, and we welcome their commitment to roll out this practice across all their operations. As an early adopter leader, Çelebi Aviation’s rapid implementation of collision avoidance technologies is groundbreaking for apron safety and serves as an example in the industry. This pioneering approach opens the door to a new era in apron safety."
