Istanbul Stock Exchange Kicks Off the Week with a Rise: Which Stocks Stand Out at Opening?
The BIST 100 index started the week with a 0.93% increase at 10,174.96 points. The BIST 100 recorded a 4.4% rise last week, closing above the psychological level of 10,000 points. The upward trend that continued throughout last week was strengthened by positive developments in the banking sector on the last trading day of the week. Additionally, the upcoming lifting of the short-selling ban on the BIST 50 starting from January positively affected the index.
Borsa Istanbul also started the new week on a buying trend, with developments in Syria currently perceived positively by the market. The sectors that supported the positive opening included metal and construction in the BIST 50. Particularly, the cement sector began the week with a significant rise of around 5%. The financial index started the week in parallel with the BIST 100. The only sector that opened in the negative territory was sports.

In general, USAK, SANKO, and ISDMR were among the stocks that began the day at the ceiling price on the Borsa Istanbul. Along with FENER and ANSGR, DURDO was the other stock that started the day with the most significant decline.
In the domestic currency market, USD/TRY began the week with a 0.2% increase at 34.81. EUR/TRY opened flat at 36.76, while gram gold found buyers at 2,960 TRY with a 0.6% rise.
In international markets, Asian stock exchanges started the week in the negative zone, except for Japan. In the morning hours, US and European futures also had a negative outlook.
